Ameer Sultan, who recently attacked Rajinikanth for hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, has welcomed the views of Ilayathalapathy Vijay and claimed that he expected the Tamil superstar to have such a balanced opinion on the issue.
In an interview, Ameer said that the place he chooses to express his views against Rajinikanth may not be right, but his opinion was not wrong. The director said that he is a big fan of the superstar and admires him a lot.
Ameer claims that Rajinikanth welcomed PM Modi's move minutes after it was announced and this did not go well with him. "Vijay took five days to open up about demonetisation and he had a balanced approach on the issue, which I was expecting from Rajini sir as the superstar is far more experienced than Ilayathalapathy," Ameer said.
The director adds that nobody will oppose the drive against black money. But he was not happy with the way it was carried out. The Paruthiveeran creator ends on the note that he would join the Bharatiya Janata Party if demonetisation solves the issues like it is being projected.
Ameer had recently slammed Rajinikanth and said that the decision on demonetisation was taken without foreseeing the issues that would affect the poor. The filmmaker alleged that tickets of Rajinikanth's Kabali were sold at a higher price than the government's fixed rates, which amounts to black money.
"Isn't he aware of it? Is he ready to submit a white paper on the ticket rates and collection?" the director had asked at a press meet.
On the other hand, Vijay welcomed PM Modi's bold decision, but expressed his views on its implementation saying that it was affecting poor people.
