Former Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) legislator Bharat Singh, along with two aides, was shot dead by around 10 unidentified men at a religious function in Delhi on Sunday evening. While Singh succumbed to his injuries later, the other two are in critical condition.

The incident occurred at around 08:10 pm when Singh and the other two men were attending a religious event at Abhinandan Vatika in west Delhi's Najafgarh area. Around eight to 10 unidentified men fired 15 rounds at the three, IANS reported.

Police said Singh had suffered two bullet injuries in the head from a close range.

They were rushed to Gurgaon's Medanta - the Medicity, where Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while his two aides remain critical, a police official said. "Prima facie, it seems to be a case of personal enmity," he added.

Singh was once attacked in June 2012 as well. Four unidentified men had opened fire at Singh near his office, in which he had suffered two bullet injuries – one on his left shoulder and the other in the abdomen. However, he had recovered from the injuries and the four accused were also arrested.
