A 38-year-old man was beaten to death in a road rage case in Delhi, police said on Monday.
The incident took place around 11.30 pm on Sunday. Shahnawaz, a resident of I.P. Estate area in east Delhi, was returning home from a wedding ceremony with his family on a motorbike, when it was hit by a car near Turkman Gate in Daryaganj, police said.
Eyewitnesses told police that around four to five men were inside the car which slightly bumped into Shahnawaz's bike from behind.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the car told Shahnawaz to move his vehicle sideways, but when the victim said he was unable to do so due to heavy traffic, an argument broke out between them.
The car occupants beat him up after a heated argument. Shahnawaz was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, officials said.
People and the victim's relatives gathered at the spot and protested against Delhi Police and damaged a few vehicles leading to a traffic chaos in the area. Protesters blocked the nearby roads.
Police officials were deployed in large number in Turkman Gate area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Parmaditya said they got some information about the culprits and they would be arrested soon.
