Filmmaker Mahmood Farooqui was reportedly arrested recently by the Delhi Police on charge of raping a foreigner.
According to reports, a US national had accused the co-director of Aamir Khan-starrer "Peepli Live" of molesting her earlier this year. However, a complaint was filed at the New Friends Colony police station on 19 June, following which he was arrested.
After being interrogated by the police for the alleged offence, a court sent him to six-day judicial custody, the ANI reported. He has been charged under IPC Section 376 (rape).
Farooqui happens to be the husband of "Peepli Live" director Anusha Rizvi.
