The Youth Congress on Wednesday afternoon staged protests in front of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence over a proposal for hefty salary hike for the local MLAs.
On Tuesday, a three-member independent panel of experts recommended a salary hike from the current Rs 88,000 to Rs 2.10 lakh per month including allowances.
The committee, which consists of former secretary general P D T Achari, journalist K V Prasad and Supreme Court advocate Balraj Malik, was set up to revise the pay for Delhi MLAs after some of the AAP lawmakers asked the government for a hike.
"Unfortunate, a party which calls itself Aam Aadmi party, want a 400 percent salary hike for MLAs," India.com quoted Congress leader Ajay Maken as saying.
"Before elections he is something else. After the polls, his real character is exposed," said Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay.
