Delhi Dynamos go into their biggest ever Indian Super League game in all three seasons of the Indian football competition on Wednesday, as they look forward to overturn a goal-deficit against Kerala Blasters. The ISL semi final 2016 return leg takes place at the JLN stadium in the national capital.
The good news remains that all players, coming to the game at the back of breaks, are fit to participate in the match. A fully fit team is what Gianluca Zambrotta has at his disposal. But will it be enough?
The likes of Marcelinho, Kean Lewis and Richard Gadze, and the evergreen Florent Malouda, remain the focal of the Delhi Dynamos attack. However, can they work together to the best of their abilities?
Delhi have a one-goal deficit and although the best of attackers played for them in Kochi in the first leg, they failed to come out with a goal. Can this change now in front of their home fans? Defensively, too, they need to step up.
"Kerala have a very good team and it is not about a specific player [we need to be worry of]," mentioned Zambrotta. "They have Belfort, [Duckens] Nazon but we have got to focus on the whole team as they are good."
Sachin Tendulkar's Kerala Blasters, meanwhile, also have to step up defensively despite having the advantage going into the second leg fixture. "I don't think we can sort of defend anything and our mentality has got to be that it is a game which is 0-0," mentioned Kerala Blasters coach Steve Coppell.
"We have got to play a normal game and during the course of the game things might happen, goals might come, substitutions will be made and there will be referring decisions to be made."
Meanwhile, here is an important question that needs to be addressed. Is CK Vineeth, one of the best inspirations for the team's revival this season, fit to participate? Yes, he is.
