There were chances galore, and plenty of goalmouth action, but the only thing, and indeed the most important thing, missing was goals as Alessandro Del Piero's Delhi Dynamos played out a goalless draw with David Trezeguet's FC Pune City in their Indian Super League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Delhi Dynamos will leave the stadium wondering just how they could not pick up all three points as the home team missed chance after chance with Pune City goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi making a few wonderful saves.
However, the Dynamos forwardline was also a little wasteful, and on another day, had they laced those goalscoring boots, the scoreline could have easily been 2-0 or 3-0 in their favour at the end of the 90 minutes.
Better results will come in time for both teams, as what has been clear from the first three matches of the ISL is that the clubs need more time to gel and build that understanding.
The longer the season goes on, the better the teams will play, and hopefully, then the goals should flow. Because, as of now, there have been only four goals scored in three games, and three of them came in the first match, when Atletico de Kolkata found their goalscoring mojo against Mumbai City FC.
Much will depend on how Del Piero reacts to the climate in India, because, in flashes, the Italian showed just why, at one point in time, he was one of the best players in the world.
Trezeguet will also definitely get on the scoresheet in the future, and FC Pune City will need the Frenchman's striking prowess if they are to move forward in this season of the ISL.
All in all, it was a pretty decent game, a game which could have easily had a few goals, and a game which was definitely deserved more than a goalless draw in the end.
