Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos have announced the list of teams they will be up against during their preseason tour of Sweden this summer.
The ISL franchisee, which is already making headlines after some star-studded signings like Roberto Carlos, Florent Malouda and John Arne Riise among others, are set to play three preseason friendlies in the Scandinavian nation, as they look forward to having the best of preparations ahead of the second edition of the league.
The footballing nation is known for players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who currently plays for Paris St. Germain, Celtic legend Henrik Larsson, as well as Anders Svensson, the highest-capped Swedish footballer of all time, among others.
"Sweden is a beautiful country who play outstanding football that has shaped the structure of the game in, too. It's heartening to see that all my friends have come together to support the dream of bringing Delhi Dynamos to Sweden, sponsoring us in every way they can and help promoting Indian football worldwide," Delhi Dynamos president Prashant Agarwal said in a statement.
"We just hope to learn as much as we can and let this experience be the best we've ever had."
The Dynamos open their first of three encounters against Varberg BoIS FC, who play in the second tier of Swedish football. The club have remained consistent for three seasons in tier 2, after clinching promotion from Division 1 in 2011.
The ISL side face stiff competition next as they go against Swedish top flight side BK Hacken. The Gothenburg outfit have remained runners-up in the Allsvenskan – Swedish top flight – in 2012, and have remained the champions of the Swedish second tier in 2014. Hacken have also taken part in the UEFA Europa League for two seasons in the past.
The final opponents for Delhi Dynamos in the Sweden tour remain Skene IF. The local club have participated in Division 3 of the Swedish football league system, and could be a relatively easier opponent for Carlos' side to taste their mettle against, among the three clubs.
