A 24-year-old man died after his BMW fell off a flyover in South Delhi on Sunday. The man had gotten engaged the previous evening and was returning from a bachelor party.
The deceased was identified as Abhijeet Singh, a builder. A case was registered under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), and 304(A) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. The police is investigating if he was driving under the influence of alcohol and if another car was involved in the accident.
His car crashed into the Lodhi flyover and fell off early morning, a police officer told the Press Trust of India. He was returning home after attending a party with his friends. He was going to Azadpur from Lajpat Nagar, where his friends had thrown a bachelor party for him.
The police is waiting for the post-mortem report to determine if he was intoxicated. The car was overspeeding and the impact of the car hitting the grill of the flyover was high. He went overboard.
The man had severe head injuries and was taken to the Moolchand Hospital. He died while receiving treatment, police said.
Singh's family is in shock and the police have not recorded a statement from them yet. He had gotten engaged to his girlfriend the previous night.
