Alleged lovebirds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are set to reunite onscreen but not in the rumoured "Shuddhi"; the duo might be seen together in Aditya Chopra's upcoming film.
Deepika and Ranveer, who recently delivered the super hit "Ram-Leela", has reportedly been roped in for the "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" director's next, reported Times of India.
Aditya, who debuted grandly with "DDLJ", and went on to create money-spinners, such as "Mohabbatein" and "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", is said to be on the lookout for a young cast, and hence dumped his usual choice Shah Rukh Khan for the film.
Moreover, Ranveer - being a successful YRF product - is seen as the obvious choice. The actor, who came up through YRF's "Band Baaja Baaraat" and "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl", recently starred in the banner's "Gunday".
Previous reports had already hinted that SRK would be replaced by Ranveer in Aditya's film but the latter had denied the speculation as false.
While Deepika's successive hit streak may be the apparent reason Aditya settled for the actress, who has previously worked in YRF's "Bachna Ae Haseeno" and "Lafangey Parindey."
If the report holds any truth, it will be the second innings for the alleged lovebirds on celluloid.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar has played down reports which claimed that Deepika and Ranveer have been cast in "Shuddhi", after Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor opted out of the project.
The filmmaker had recently set the release date of "Shuddhi" for Christmas next year, and stated the film's cast would be announced soon. And there after, speculations of Deepika and Ranveer being paired for the film started doing rounds.
But now Johar has dismissed the reports as fake. "No they (Deepika and Ranveer) are not finalised," he told PTI.
