While Deepika Padukone-starrer Padmavati is still facing uncertainty over its release, another movie on the same subject is set to be made.
It has been reported that another film on Padmavati is being made, which has been titled Main Hoon Padmavati. "The film will strictly be made in Hindi and Rajasthani. The lead cast will star fresh faces," The Asian Age quoted producer Ashok Shekhar as saying.
The report stated that the makers of the film are would to steer clear of controversies by writing the script as per the narration of the people of Rajasthan about the historical figure. Apparently, the movie will follow the same storyline as the protesters would want to have in the film on the historic lady.
"The film is being developed after talking to people in Rajasthan to maintain its authenticity. The story will go on the floors from mid January next year in Rajasthan. This film will probably be made under the guidance of the people who have made a huge hue and cry about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest film," a source told the publication.
Deepika's Padmavati that also features Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was supposed to be released on December 1. But the strong protests by Rajput outfits, alleging distortion of facts in the film, delayed it.
Not just protests, but death threats were also hurled at Deepika and SLB, along with announcement of rewards to those who would behead them. The protestors allege that Bhansali's film portrayed the character of Padmavati in bad light.
Although the film-maker had repeatedly assured that the movie has no objectionable scenes, the protesters were not ready to take it. Later, the censor board had also sent the film back to the makers without granting certification as some required disclaimers were missing.
The makers had then delayed the release of Padmavati, and fans are still waiting to hear the new release date.
