Director Vishal Bhardwaj had decided to reschedule the shoot of his upcoming gangster saga Sapna Didi until the film's protagonist Irrfan Khan returns to India.
The actor is currently undergoing treatment for a rare disease called neuroendocrine tumour in London. Reports suggest that the actor is responding well to the treatment but there is no clear picture on when he will be coming back to India.
If a report in DNA is to be believed, Deepika Padukone, who is supposed to play a lead role in the film, has returned the signing amount to Vishal. She has reportedly conveyed to Vishal that she will join the project once Irrfan comes back post his treatment -- hale and hearty.
Recently, when Deepika was asked about the project and Irrfan's illness, she told The New Indian Express, "Forget the actor part, for me, Irrfan is someone I'm extremely fond of as a person. I can't say it was expected, but neither was it a shock. I myself have been through certain experiences in the past, and it has taught me that life is fragile. Anything can happen to anyone. Nothing shocks or alarms me anymore, but I do wish him good health and a speedy recovery."
Earlier, Deepika had requested fans to give Irrfan some personal space to figure out his life and overcome his suffering.
"Like he has requested, there are times when people just need to be left alone for sometime and figure their lives out. And I think we should respect that space that he has requested for. Like we said, let's hope for the best," Deepika had said on the sidelines of the Hello Hall Of Fame awards on Sunday (March 11).
