Buzz is that Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali will reunite for another period drama "Padmavati," which will go on floors in September. The period drama, starring Ranveer and Deepika, will be released next year.
Deepika during the IIFA 2016 press conference confirmed to DNA that she will begin filming her next Bollywood movie in September, but she did not reveal the movie's name. However, an entertainment magazine confirmed that Deepika will team up again with "Bajirao Mastani" director Sanjay and actor Ranveer for another period drama.
Sources told Filmfare that the upcoming period film "Padmavati" is about ruler Allauddin Khilzi and the queen of Chittor Rani Padmavati. The ruler falls in love with Rani Padmavati, who is married to King Ratan Singh of Chittor.
While Ranveer and Deepika have been finalised for Allauddin and Padmavati's roles, rumours also suggest that "Raman Raghav 2.0" actor Vicky Kaushal has been approached to play the role of King Ratan Singh.
"Bhansali is in the process of finalising the cast for Padmavati and has been meeting a few actors. He is looking for a relatively fresh talent to essay the role of king Rawal Ratan Singh, husband of the Mewar queen, and Vicky is one of the top contenders. Bhansali is quite impressed with the young actor's work and is keen to cast him as the king," Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.
"Vicky has met Bhansali and discussed the project. He is keen to do this film since it is a big opportunity for him. However, things are yet to be finalised and an official announcement in this regard will be made soon," a source associated with the film told the tabloid.
However, when International Business Times India contacted Vicky Kaushal, his representative refused to comment on the matter.
