Deepika Padukone has finally given her nod to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani" putting an end to the game of musical chairs over the film's cast.
The actress has reportedly chosen Bhansali's film, which also stars her alleged boyfriend Ranveer Singh, reported The Times of India.
Previous reports carried that the actress was at crossroads having to choose between Karan Johar's "Shuddhi" and Bhansali's film, as both the films' shooting schedule and release dates clash.
The actress after much deliberation picked Mastani's role, which will reunite her with the "Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-leela" team - Singh and Bhansali.
Padukone is said to have allotted a large chunk of her dates for Bhansali's ambitious project, which is expected to be shot over a long period. Even Singh is likely to go bald for his role of the Maratha general.
However, a third casting for the role of Bajirao's first wife Kashibai is yet to be confirmed. Last heard, Priyanka Chopra was in consideration for the supporting role.
While Johar's "Shuddhi" is still in its casting stage with no definite lead, the "Guzaarish" filmmaker seems to have the upper hand having found both his Bajirao and Mastani in Singh and Padukone respectively.
The development could heighten tensions between Johar and Bhansali clans, since both the lead actors were strong contenders for "Shuddhi" but eventually favoured Bhansali instead.
The clash between the films has been the talking point after Bhansali announced a Christmas 2015 release, which had long been reserved by Johar for his project.
