Grapevine has it that the makers have offered the female lead role to Deepika Padukone. The upcoming movie, which is said to be a historical epic film on Sangamithra, is centred on a woman and demands a top performer. Hence, they have reportedly approached her, say reports.
Sangamithra is the eldest daughter of Emperor Ashoka and his first wife, Devi.
Deepika Padukone, who made her acting debut in Kannada film Aishwarya, returned to south films with Tamil flick Kochadaiiyaan starring Rajinikanth. Unfortunately, the film bombed at the box office and failed to earn good name for the Bollywood diva.
Coming back to the latest project, it is a mega-budget film, which will be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Mahesh Babu, who is making his Tamil debut with A R Murugadoss, is said to be the main lead, while Jayam Ravi and Arya are playing major roles in the flick bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films.
On the other hand, the pre-production work is going on for the past eight months. Technicians from all over the world, including from the US, UK and Denmark are working on the project.
A R Rahman has been signed to score for the multilingual film.
