Deepika Padukone's impressive performances in "Piku" and "Bajirao Mastani" have catapulted her to the top slot and she is now looking forward to making the most of her position in the industry. The actress has apparently hiked her endorsement fee.
A source told DNA that the actress' team has charged a whopping Rs 8 crore for a three-day shoot with a popular airlines brand, for which she will be the brand ambassador if and when the deal is closed. The amount she quoted is usually what top league male actors — Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan — and cricket stars — M. S. Dhoni, Virat Kohli — demand for commercials.
Earlier, Deepika used to charge Rs 1-5 crore a day, but now she's going for Rs 2 crore plus per day.
"When Deepika's team asked for that amount, they weren't sure they would get it. But they have to constantly up the star's price according to the market value and Deepika has had a fantastic year with 'Piku' and 'Bajirao Mastani,' so she is in the position to hike her fee. Whether the brand will pay her that amount, remains to be seen," the source further elaborated.
The surge isn't surprising as one of her peers is said to have been signed on for as many as 24 advertising campaigns, amounting to a massive Rs 100 crore. She is a big deal out West and at home too.
Priyanka Chopra is the name we are looking at. According to the Times of India report, this leading lady will wrap up shoots for endorsements in 40 days, of which two weeks have whizzed past. A fruit beverage brand, gold jewellery line and an airlines company have apparently roped in the "Quantico" girl for their commercials.
