Deepika Padukone has proved time and again why she is one of the most sought after actresses today. She has not pleased the critics by delivering solid performances, but has also won appreciation from the audience for her work on celluloid.
A few days ago, there were rumours about how the leading lady has hiked her fee and is currently the highest paid actress of Bollywood. While, that's best known to her, we have brand new information about her being in a certain coveted list.
The "Piku" actress is number 10 on Forbes' World's Highest-Paid Actresses list (in last one year – June 1, 2015 - June 1, 2016). She has yearly earnings of $10 million approximately. The best bit is, she is the only Indian actress to have made the cut and a major chunk of her earnings come from endorsements, Forbes reported.
Jennifer Lawrence tops the list with $46 million, followed by Melissa McCarthy, who raked in $33 million last year. Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, Fan Bingbing, Charlize Theron, Amy Adams, Julia Roberts and Mila Kunis fill up the rest of the slots with $25 million, $21 million, $17 million, $16.5 million, $13.5 million, $12 million and $11 million, respectively.
What's happening on the work front for Deepika?
Deepika hasn't announced her projects for 2016. However, there's been a strong murmur that she may play the titular role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ambitious period-drama "Padmavati." Her maiden Hollywood film – "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" – opens in theatres on Jan. 20, 2017, which means she will have no releases this year.
Also, she has apparently been approached for Shah Rukh Khan's as-yet-untitled film with Aanand L Rai. If everything falls into place, this will be Deepika's fourth film with SRK, after "Om Shanti Om," "Chennai Express" and "Happy New Year," all of which were box office hits.
