If reports are to be believed, then Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif might star together in Sanjay Leela Bhanslai's dream project "Bajirao Mastani".
"Apparently, Bhansali has had a word with both Deepika and Katrina. The girls have shown tremendous interest," a source told The Times of India.
Bhansali, who is presently shooting "Ram Leela" with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, is in talks with Eros International for his dream project which has been shelved for 14 years.
"After Ram Leela releases in October 2013, Bhansali will start with the pre production of Bajirao Mastani. He will begin shooting in April 2014. Eros and Bhansali have had a fabulous working relationship during Ram Leela. Their collaboration on Bajirao Mastani will strengthen their association," the source said.
Initial reports suggested that Deepika will play Mastani, Bajirao's love interest and Katrina will step in to play Kashibai, Bajirao's wife.
If the actresses are paired together, it would make an interesting watch given the history they share.
Even though the lead actor for Peshwa Bajirao's role has not been finalised yet, Ranbir Kapoor would perfectly fit the bill if both his lady loves are on board.
"Bajirao Mastani" would be Bhansali's second epic historical romance following "Jodha Akbar" (2008) which starred Hrithik roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Bhansali had initially settled for Aishwarya and Salman Khan in 2002, but the project could not be executed given the actors' tumultuous relationship.
