Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) registered a second straight month of decline in December in domestic car sales, with the company selling 12,379 units last month, down 14% from 14,428 units sold in December 2014.
Honda City and Honda Amaza were the top-selling models of HCIL, followed by Honda Jazz. The company exported 364 cars during the month.
In November 2015, HCIL sold 14,712 cars, 3.61% less than the 15,263 cars sold in November 2014.
Sales for the April-December 2015 period were up 10% at 1,44,474 cars, from 1,31,133 in the corresponding period in 2014, the company said in a statement.
Other car-makers had reported mixed results in December domestic car sales.
Renault India sold 10,292 cars in India during December 2015, 160% more than the 3,956 units than the company sold in December 2014.
Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor had reported a growth of 13.5% and 28.8% respectively, while sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Tata Motors declined by 11% and 33% respectively.
Industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (Siam) is expected to release the industry-wide data for the automobile sector by next week.
In November 2015, car sales had gone up for the the 13th straight month to 1,73,111 units, up 10.39% from November 2014, according to Siam.
