Television actor Mohsin Khan became a victim of the infamous celebrity death hoax when reports of him having drowned in a river surfaced online. However, the actor refuted his death rumours and said that he is alive and doing well.
Reports suggested that Mohsin, who rose to fame with Life OK's show "Dream Girl- Ek Ladki Deewani Si", was feared drowned in river Jiabharali near Bhalukpong along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The actor drowned at around 4.30 pm on 22 December when he went to take a bath in the river, the report stated.
It is not clear what started the rumour, but several websites reported about the actor's death, adding that his body has been found. The news of Mohsin's death sent shockwaves across the television industry, but soon the actor clarified on the issue saying that he is alive.
"I have been getting numerous phone calls since last night. My friends, family and colleagues heard about the news report, which was put up on some website. It had my photo, and said that I had drowned and was dead. It was quite scary," Hindustan Times quoted Mohsin as saying.
"There are many names floating around like Moin, Momin, Mohsin. But since one website put up my picture, everyone picked that up and ran the story, without asking me. People are asking me how I feel about this 'second life'. It's so strange. So many people have reached out, and checked up with me. It's touching," he added.
His co-star Shradha Arya and actor Kunal Kapoor are also spreading the word that he's alive and doing well.
