Having released in 1200 screens, Dear Zindagi had collected Rs 8.75 crore nett at the Indian box office on its opening day. Dear Zindagi witnessed an excellent jump in its collection on Saturday and made a business of Rs 11.25 crore on Saturday, taking its 2-day collection to Rs 20 crore in the domestic market.
With positive reviews and strong word of mouth, the movie has completed its 3-day run at the box office with flying colours. Dear Zindagi collected Rs 12.50 crore at the Indian box office on Sunday, taking its 1st weekend total collection to Rs 32.50 crore. Its -3-day domestic gross collection stands at Rs 45.14 crore.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#DearZindagi packs a SOLID PUNCH... Shows FAB growth... Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 11.25 cr, Sun 12.50 cr. Total: ₹ 32.50 cr [1200 screens]. India biz."
Directed by Gauri Shinde, Dear Zindagi was the only big release last Friday and in spite of the issues of demonetisation, the film has dominated the box office over the weekend. John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Force 2 might give a little competition to Dear Zindagi but the latter seems to go a long way for the all round positive response it has been getting.
This is the first time that Shah Rukh and Alia shared screen space and looks like their onscreen chemistry has clicked with the audience. The film also performed well at the overseas market, with the highest collection from UAE-GCC regions. However, Monday's collection will be crucial.
