Dear Zindagi starring Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan showed good jump in its collection at the Indian box office on Saturday, taking its two-day domestic gross total beyond Rs 20 crore mark.
Despite having huge hype and promotion, Dear Zindagi was released in 1200 screens on Friday and opened to an average response at the ticket counters in the morning shows. But the positive talk from the audience boosted its collection in the afternoon and evening shows on its opening day.
Dear Zindagi collected Rs 8.75 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day. The movie did superb business in multiplexes in major cities. But the film failed to become the biggest opener for Alia Bhatt, beating the record of her last release Udta Punjab, which collected Rs 10.05 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day.
A strong word of mouth boosted the business of the Gauri Shinde-directed movie on Saturday and the film showed 28.57 percent growth in its collection on its second day. Dear Zindagi collected Rs 11.25 crore at the Indian box office on Saturday, taking its two-day nett collection to Rs 20 crore in the domestic market. Its second day collection is on par with that of Udta Punjab
Dear Zindagi has collected Rs 27.78 crore gross at the Indian box office in two days. Trade experts describe its growth as superb. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#DearZindagi shows SUPERB growth on Day 2... Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 11.25 cr. Total: ₹ 20 cr [1200 screens]. India biz."
Early trends show that the Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has witnessed a new high at the ticket counters and it is expected to make fantastic collection at the Indian box office on Sunday. Dear Zindagi is likely to beat the collection record of Udta Punjabi, which collected Rs 33.80 crore at the India box office in its first weekend.
