Dear Zindagi first weekend box office collection: Gauri Shinde's film turns 3rd fastest $1 million grosser in US in 2016

Director Gauri Shinde's Dear Zindagi has made a superb collection at the US box office in the first weekend. The film has beaten the record of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan and turned out to be the 3rd fastest $1 million grosser in 2016.

Shah Rukh Khan, who has played an extended cameo in Dear Zindagi, has a massive fan base in the US and distributors of the movie planned really big to cash in on his popularity as well as the Thanksgiving weekend. They released the Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan starrer in over 200 screens across the country on November 23. The film opened to fantastic response last Wednesday and showed decent growth on Thursday.

The Gauri Shinde-directed movie went on strength to strength on the following days and surpassed the $1 million mark in the country on Saturday. As per early estimates, Dear Zindagi has collected $1,188,088 at the US box office in the first weekend. The movie has shattered the record of Shah Rukh Khan's last outing Fan, which raked in $1,116,607 at the US box office in its opening weekend.
