Actor Siddharth is probably the first actor from the south Indian film industry to raise voice against the Hindu nation narrative of BJP. He has requested the party to work towards empowering the country in a series of tweets.
Recently, the BJP-led Union government introduced a rule that bans the sale of cows for slaughter. The people in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal strongly opposed the move. The opposition sparked a public fight between the protesters and supporters of the rule.
Actor Siddharth is known for championing social causes and often expresses his views on burning social issues. The actor took to Twitter handle to share his views this morning and condemn those who are creating a havoc over the beef issue.
The Jil Jung Juk star tweeted: "Dear #BJP you have power. Empower #India. Stay out of people's private choices. Stop this #Hindu nation narrative. We are better than that."
The actor added: "The row about #cattle markets is unnecessary and only polarises people. State govts allow or disallow slaughter. #Center should stay out. Most of us are neither #bhakts nor #libtards or whatever these ugly names are. We are just #Indians. Live and let live. Stop the hate!"
Siddharth also posted a photo and expressed his concern about people injured in the furore. The actor wrote: "Broken face and broken arm got into a fight. Who hit whom? & since when did #IIT students start whacking each other?"
