Nissan's low-cost brand Datsun pulled the wraps off its much-awaited car, the redi-Go entry level hatchback, in India on Tuesday, June 7. The redi-Go, the third offering of Datsun in the Indian market, has been priced attractively at Rs. 2.38 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom Delhi).
Powered by a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor that churns out 53bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm, the redi-Go claims to return a fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The redi-Go is built on the same CMF-A platform as that of the Renault Kwid and measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width and 1,541mm in height. It offers segment-leading ground clearance of 185mm and comes with a boot space of 222-litre.
Launched in five variants — Datsun redi-Go D, A, T, T(O) and S — the redi-Go comes in five exterior colour options — ruby red, white, silver, lime green and grey. With the redi-Go, Datsun promises to offer best-in-class maintenance cost. The new hatchback will also be offered with four customisation packs — kool, urban, style, and easy — and 50 accessories.
As for features, the redi-Go comes with remote fuel lid opener and tailgate opener, rear door child safety lock, body-coloured bumpers, chrome accents on grille, premium fabric seat upholstery, piano finish for centre console, front speakers, power steering and USB/AUX/radio/FM/AM player. The top-end trim also gets daytime running lights and driver side airbag as standard.
The redi-Go, which will rival Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Renault Kwid in India, is already open for bookings.
