It appears like Datsun, the low-cost brand of Nissan has managed to get it all right with its new entry level offering, the redi-Go, in the country. Datsun redi-Go, which was launched in the country in June, is said to be earning positive response from the customers.
The redi-Go currently commands a waiting period of up to two months depending on the variants. While the redi-Go's entry level variants A and D get a waiting period of up to two months, the top-end variants will be ready for delivery in a month from the time of bookings.
The redi-Go is said to have received over 20,000 bookings in the country and the company has delivered over 5,000 units. The redi-Go has also propelled the sales growth of Nissan in the country, with the company recording growth of 126 percent in July 2016 in India. Nissan sold 6,418 vehicles in July 2016 as against 2,841 units sold during the month a year ago. The company sold 3,940 units of the redi-Go in July.
Priced at Rs. 2.38 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom, Delhi), the redi-Go comes with a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor that churns out 53bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm. The redi-Go claims to return a fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
It measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width and 1,541mm in height. It offers segment-leading ground clearance of 185mm and comes with a boot space of 222-litre.
