Japanese carmaker Nissan's India subsidiary, Nissan Motor India, reported domestic sales of 3,975 vehicles in November, registering 52 percent growth as against 2,617 units sold in the corresponding month last year.
The strong performance of Nissan in the country has been attributed to the Datsun redi-GO hatchback. The hatchback has been registering sizeable numbers in terms of sales since its launch in the country in June. The limited edition of Datsun redi-GO, Datsun redi-Go Sport, also proved to be a success, prompting the company to manufacture another 800 units in addition to the original plan of 1,000 units.
Priced at Rs 3.47 lakh (ex-showroom), Datsun redi-Go Sport comes with additional features such as theme grille-red accents, theme wheel cover, graphics, roof spoiler, sporty dashboard, Bluetooth audio system, remote key-less entry and rear parking sensor.
"Despite the impact of the liquidity crunch on the current demand for cars, Nissan India posted a healthy growth of 52 percent in November with the continued solid performance of the Datsun redi-GO," said Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra.
"We are helping our customers by promoting cashless payment options such as use of cheques, debit/credit cards, eWallets and other cashless services when they visit dealerships," he added.
Datsun redi-GO is pinned to rival frontrunners like Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Renault Kwid in India. Nissan has also expanded its portfolio in India by launching iconic supercar GT-R with a price tag of Rs 1.99 crore.
