A fresh batch of images of Datsun redi-Go small hatchback has started doing the rounds on the web, showing the soon-to-be-unveiled model fitted with features like roof rails and roof spoiler. Snapped in Medavakkam, Chennai, while the redi-Go was undergoing its test runs, the new Datsun offering is expected to be launched in India at the end of May.
The prototype of the redi-Go is seen flaunting new features and also sports a crossover-like plastic rear bumper. Although Datsun's small hatch is seen hiding under thick camouflage, the images shared by a member of the Automotive India forum give a fairly clear idea of the road presence of the model. Datsun redi-Go is expected to make its global debut in India April 14.
A lot has been written about the redi-Go, the third offering from the house of Nissan's low-cost brand Datsun. The hatchback, which is built on the same CMF-A platform as Renault Kwid, is expected to replicate the success of the Kwid in the domestic market. The word around the web indicates that the redi-Go will be priced cheaper than the Kwid in India. As far as the styling is concerned, it will stay true to the silhouette of the concept model unveiled at Auto Expo 2014.
Under the hood, Datsun redi-Go is likely to get an 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission. An automated manual transmission (AMT) version and a 1.0-litre engine are expected to join the line-up later in its life cycle. The redi-Go is also rumoured to get a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine developed by Nissan.
