Datsun India has teased an image of redi-Go Sport special edition ahead of the launch on September 29. The special edition will be unveiled by Sakshi Malik, bronze medallist in 58kg category wrestling at 2016 Rio Olympics.
The redi-Go Sport is expected to come only in top-spec S variant. The teaser image indicates it will be pure cosmetic tweaks that include black racing stripes on the bonnet and doors. The black colour is also applied at the lower section of the front bumper, rear view mirror covers and wheel cups. A single mesh in the grille is also coloured in body colour that adds an interesting twist to the aesthetic appeal.
The teaser image does not show the interiors of the special edition. Seat cover with contrast stitching, special floor mats and sill plates can be expected. The Sport edition will be powered by the same 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor that churns out 53bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The hatchback comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl. Datsun redi-Go has been priced at Rs. 2.38 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom Delhi).
The redi-Go, the third offering of Datsun in the Indian market was launched in June 2016. The vehicle has been doing healthy sales with an average of 3000 units per month. Riding on the redi-Go, Nissan posted 111 percent year-on-year growth in August with the sales of 5,918 vehicles as against 2,809 units a year ago.
