When Datsun unveiled its latest hatchback redi-Go on April 14, the company didn't divulge its fuel efficiency figure, yet stated that it will be highly fuel efficient. The latest update on Datsun India website confirms the redi-Go will return the ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17 kmpl that makes the car one of the most fuel efficient in its segment. The fuel efficiency figure of the redi-Go is identical to the Renault Kwid, which is not surprising since both the cars are based on the CMF-A platform of Renault-Nissan alliance.
The Datsun website also says the tall boy-designed hatchback will have a 26.8-degree approach angle, 58.6-degree departure angle and a ground clearance of 185mm. The dashboard will house a digital tacho meter. The hatchback will also come with an audio system that has Radio, CD, MP3, USB and Aux-in connectivity.
The redi-Go will be powered by 799cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, which is expected to churn out 53bhp at 5,678rpm and a peak torque of 72Nm at 4,386rpm mated a five-speed manual gearbox. The redi-Go measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width and 1,541mm in height. It will run on 13-inch wheels. The car will be sold in five colours -- ruby red, white, silver, lime green, and grey.
Datsun confirmed the redi-Go will be priced in the range of Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. In that price bracket, it is expected to shake the segment, which is currently the domain of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Datsun India started online booking for the redi-Go on May 1 for a token amount of Rs.5,000 and delivery has been slated to begin in June.
