Datsun, the low cost brand of Nissan is expected to debut its third offering redi-Go small hatchback in India at the Auto Expo, 2016 which is scheduled to take place in February. The car which is currently undergoing its final testing in the country has been caught on camera once again, adding to the long list of sighting before the launch of the model in the market.
Snapped by MotorBeam reader in Chennai, redi-Go will lock horns with Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon when launched in India. From the new spy shots, there isn't much one can pull out, however the repeated sighting of the vehicle on Indian roads tells us that work on the redi-Go is progressing at a rapid pace.
The redi-Go has more than a passing resemblance to the concept of the model, which was showcased at Auto Expo 2014. Codenamed DatsunI2, redi-Go rides on the CMF-A (Common Modular Family) platform, the same platform Renault's latest offering Kwid has.
Under the hood, the redi-Go is speculated to get a three-cylinder petrol engine with five-speed manual transmission. The model is also likely to come equipped with an automated manual transmission (AMT) variant as there is an increasing demand for AMT models in the country.
With more than 95% localisation, redi-Go from the house of Nissan Datsun is expected to carry an aggressive price of under Rs 3 lakh in the country.
