After the launch of Datsun Go hatchback and the Go+ MPV, Nissan is gearing up for the launch of its third model for the low-cost brand, the redi-Go hatchback. The new hatchback, which shares the CMF-A platform with the Renault Kwid, will have its production-spec debut at Auto Expo 2016.
A report in Economic Times confirms Nissan has decided to launch the redi-Go hatchback in the third quarter of 2016, probably during the festive season of this year. IBTimes India's query to the company remained unanswered.
Caught on camera a number of times under camouflage while testing, the red-Go has the big responsibility of building trust among the targeted buyers. It being a low-cost brand and heavy cost-cutting strategies leading to poor sales of the Go hatchback and Go+ MPV in the past, Datsun redi-Go is not expected to concentrate on affordability but best quality.
The spyshots so far indicate the redi-Go will have same silhouette of the concept model unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014. Under the hood, the redi-Go is speculated to get a three-cylinder petrol engine with five-speed manual transmission. The model is also likely to come equipped with an automated manual transmission (AMT) variant as there is an increasing demand for AMT models in the country.
With more than 95% localisation, redi-Go from the house of Nissan Datsun is expected to carry a price tag of under Rs 4 lakh in the country.
