Original story
Nissan's sub-brand Datsun will pull the wraps off its much-awaited redi-Go hatchback during its global unveiling in India, Thursday, April 14. This is the third car from Datsun brand for India after the Go hatchback and Go+ MPV. The latest entrant will underpin the CMF-A platform developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The teaser and sketch images of Datsun released ahead of the unveiling last week indicate the vehicle does justice in terms of design to the concept model unveiled at Auto Expo 2014. The redi-Go will have a tall boy stance. The face of the hatchback will feature large grille with chrome outline flanked by sleek headlamps. The vehicle will feature a prominent crease line running from the lower front bumper to the tail lamps. Black-coloured rear-view mirror covers, B-pillars and six-spoke alloy wheels will lend a sporty touch to the exterior.
Under the hood, Datsun redi-Go is likely to get an 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission. This is the same engine that works in the Renault Kwid. An AMT transmission option is also expected to be offered. Reports indicate a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine developed by Nissan may make its debut with the redi-Go. The estimated starting price for the hatchback hovers around Rs. 2.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
