Nissan's sub-brand Datsun is all set to add a third car, the redi-Go, to its India line-up in the first week of June. The car was unveiled at an event on April 14. Bits and piece information about the redi-Go have been floating around the internet since then. Now, the company itself has revealed almost all the information on the car barring the exact pricing.
The redi-Go will be powered by a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor that also does duty in the Renault Kwid. The engine churns out 53bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox identical to the Kwid. Both cars will return a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl, and are based on the CMF-A platform developed by Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The redi-Go measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width and 1,541mm in height. That means the Datsun car is shorter in length and taller in height than Renault Kwid. Renault's hatchback measures 3,679mm in length, 1,579mm in width and 1,478mm in height.
With a tallboy stance, the redi-Go comes with a ground clearance of 185mm which is 5mm higher than the Renault Kwid. The redi-Go will have a 26.8-degree approach angle and a 58.6-degree departure angle. It will run on 13-inch wheels and will also come with an audio system that has radio, CD, MP3, USB and aux-in connectivity.
To be sold in five colours — ruby red, white, silver, lime green, and grey — the red-Go is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh.
