The first prototype of Nissan Datsun's Redi-Go has been spied undergoing testing in the country, giving us an early glimpse of the model.
Datusn Redi-Go, the third in the Nissan's low-cost brand Datsun's line-up after Go and Go+ MPV, has started testing on public roads and one such test mule has been caught on the camera by the folks at Motor Vikatan in Chennai.
In the images, Redi-Go is seen with significant amount of camouflage, thus not giving away any key detail of the model. However, the image gives a fairly good idea of the overall body proportion of the model.
Datusn Redi-Go, codenamed DatsunI2, is expected to be launched in India by March next year. Based on the same CMF-A (Common Modular Family) platform, Redi-Go is likely to be priced under Rs 3 lakh in the country and will be competing against the likes of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon. The Datusn Redi-Go is likely to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February.
The power is likely to come from a three-cylinder petrol engine with five-speed manual transmission and the model could also get an automated manual transmission (AMT) variant.
Currently, Datsun sells its hatchback Go and MPV Go+ in India. Under the hood, both Go and Go+ get 1.2-litre engines that can churn out a power of 67bhp and peak torque of 104Nm.
