Nissan's Datsun Redi-Go is reportedly set to make its debut at Auto Expo 2016.
Recently, Renault-Nissan Alliance CEO Carlos Ghosn confirmed that the next offering of Nissan's low-cost brand Datsun will come to the market next year. Now the folks at ZigWheels report that Datsun Redi-Go, a model based on the Redi-Go concept that was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo, will be unveiled at the next Auto Expo. Redi-Go is expected to go on sale in India in the second half of 2016.
Dastun Redi-Go, an entry level small car, will be based on the same CMF-A (Common Modular Family) platform of recently-unveiled Renault Kwid. The model will be powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine with 5-speed manual transmission and there could be an automated manual transmission (AMT) variant of the same. The model, which will take on the likes of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon, is likely to be priced in sub ₹3 lakh bracket.
Recently, French car-maker Renault unveiled its Kwid small car in India. Underpinning the same platform, Renault Kwid gets features like optional air bags, Media Nav multimedia, and navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity. In India, Kwid will be priced in the range of ₹3 lakh to ₹4 lakh and will be produced at the Renault Nissan India plant in Oragadam, Chennai.
