Datsun has decided to advance the launch of GO Cross after receiving a positive response at the Auto Expo 2016. Reports indicate that the crossover utility vehicle (CUV) will enter market next year. The fourth product for India by the brand owned by Nissan was originally slated for launch in 2018.
The growing importance for CUVs in India also seems to have prompted Nissan to fast track launch. GO Cross will be under four-metre and two rows of seats, reports NDTV Auto.
Based on the GO+, the Go Cross concept showcased at the show features a large hexagonal radiator grille in black colour. The headlamps and tail lamps received LED treatment. Whether it will be a part of the production version remains to be seen.
The CUV will also come with skid plates at front and rear and plastic cladding on the sides. GO Cross will feature a raised ground clearance. The other features include larger alloy wheels in dark shade, roof rails and a roof-mounted spoiler.
The Go Cross is likely to get a 1.2-litre three-cylinder DOHC motor present in the Go and the Go+. The engine is likely to be tuned to churn out 64bhp of power at 5,000rpm and 140Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm.
The Go Cross is likely to get a price tag starting at Rs. 5.0 lakh to 6.5 lakh, and compete against Mahindra KUV100 and the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
