The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MnDPS) uploaded dramatic dash cam footage onto social media on Wednesday (25 February) showing a train hitting a truck whose driver failed to stop at a railroad crossing. The accident took place in North Minnesota on 20 January.
According to an official statement issued by MnDPS the accident happened just after the vehicle drove away from an inspection done by State Patrol Sergeant Jeff Shay. After the accident the train kept going for approximately a quarter of a mile before stopping, dragging the semi-truck with it.
The dash cam footage captures Shay calling the incident in, following the train and getting out of his car to check up on the truck driver and the locomotive crew. The MnDPS in a statement that nobody was seriously hurt.
