Danny Trejo has appeared in several Hollywood movies and is mostly known for the villains and anti-heroes he has played. Born in Los Angeles, California, on May 16, 1944, Trejo is of Mexican-American origin.
Trejo first appeared as a boxer in the 1985 survival-thriller movie, "Runaway Train." Since then, he has acted in numerous films, of which some of the prominent ones are "Heat" (1995), "Desperado" (1995) and "Con Air" (1997).
However, Trejo's best known role is perhaps that of Machete in Robert Rodriguez's "Spy Kids" series of movies. The popularity of the character led to Trejo's own series of Machete films targeted at a more adult audience.
Besides acting in movies, Trejo has also appeared in several prominent TV shows, such as "Breaking Bad," "Sons of Anarchy," and "The X-Files." As the actor turns 72, we list some of his most famous quotes to celebrate the occasion:
"Everything good that's ever happened to me came out of helping others."
"Hollywood wants guys who can act tough - Hollywood don't want tough guys."
"The blessing that this film business has given me is that when I walk into a school I automatically have everyone's attention. They want to hear what the guy from 'Con Air' and 'Desperado' has to say."
"I love action films. I don't really like drama."
"I'd always rather be working - and you know what? My kids would rather me be working. If I stay at home, I'll only buy another car or spend their money."
