Putting a rest to all the speculations, Aamir Khan confirmed the release date of his forthcoming movie "Dangal." On Monday, Aamir told reporters that "Dangal" release date has not changed.
Speculations were rife that Aamir wanted to change the release date of "Dangal" from Christmas to Independence Day, as it is a patriotic film. However, while addressing media at his residence on his birthday, the actor said that "Dangal" will be released during Christmas holidays.
"I heard the rumours too, but there is no truth in that. I had said that since it is a patriotic film, about the daughters of India, a date like August 15 would've been idea," he told reporters during the press meet, according to DNA.
"But we are not coming on that date. We are coming on Christmas. We always wanted to release on Christmas."
Rumours started doing the rounds after a daily reported that Aamir has advanced the release date of his film. "In all likelihood, Aamir is going to move the film's release date to the Aug. 15 weekend. Since the movie is almost ready, doing so shouldn't be an issue. He feels that since the film strongly showcases love for the nation, it would be perfect to bring the movie out on Independence Day," Hindustan Times quoted an insider as saying.
The Independence Day release would have clashed Aamir's film with Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro," Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" and Abhishek Bachchan's "Phir Hera Pheri 3" at the box office. But, now it's confirmed that "Dangal" will have a solo release and that too during Aamir's lucky period, i.e. during Christmas.
