Aamir Khan's Dangal has continued to keep the cash registers ringing at the Chinese box office and its total collection has surpassed the maker $100 million in the country in 16 days.
Dangal, which was released in 9,000 screens in China on May 5, has been growing bigger with each passing day. Its collection in the third week is much bigger than its business in the opening week in the country. When compared to its second Friday business ($6.40 million), the movie showed around six percent drop on its third Friday, May 19, and it collected $ 6.02 million at the Chinese box office on its eighteenth day.
But the Aamir Khan starrer showed 168.43 percent growth on its third Saturday. In fact, its collection is bigger than its business on its second Saturday ($13.97 million). Dangal has collected $16.16 million at the Chinese box office on its third Saturday and it has surpassed another historical mark in 16 days.
Dangal has collected $100.69 million (Rs 649.03 crore) at the Chinese box office on its sixteenth day and the first Indian film to achieve such a huge numbers. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Dangal crosses $100 million in China... Week 3: Fri: $ 6.02 mn Sat: $ 16.16 mn Total: $ 100.69 million [₹ 649.03 cr] HUMONGOUS ACHIEVEMENT."
The Nitesh Tiwari-directed sports drama was initially released in India and 40 international markets on December 23, 2016, and collected Rs 731 crore gross in its lifetime. With superb collection in China, Dangal has collected a total of Rs 1380.03 crore at the worldwide box office and is now heading to become second Rs 1,500 crore grossing Indian film after Baahubali 2.
