It is no secret that "Dancing with the Stars" producers are looking to rope in one of the stars from the Rio Olympics to grace the dance floor on Season 23 of the dancing competition. Simone Biles was rumoured to be one of the Olympians joining the upcoming season, but it looks like she won't be able to take part in the competition this time around.
"I would love to do 'Dancing with the Stars,' but so far we have a three-month tour after the Olympics," Simone revealed to E! News' Zuri Hall. "I am not sure if I'll have the time," she said, adding that she'd love to be a part of Season 24. I "really love to do it in the Spring if that is possible."
"Dancing with the Stars" has a long history of roping in Olympians, and the list includes Aly Raisman, Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin and Apolo Ohno.
If rumours are true, Michael Phelps is another person who is being hotly pursued by "Dancing with the Stars" producers. While Ryan Lochte was also a strong contender, his name was reportedly dropped following the fake robbery scandal. "The controversy happened in Rio and they have taken the offer off the table," a source told HollywoodLife.
The other rumoured celebrity competitors include "The Bachelorette" star JoJo Fletcher, "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice, "General Hospital" actress Emma Samms and "The Fosters" star Jake T. Austin.
"All the rumors are true for JoJo, Jake and Emma," an insider told HollywoodLife. "They have all been asked and are doing the show." However, a representative for ABC declined to confirm the news, saying, "we never comment on rumor or speculation."
ABC will announce the official cast for Season 23 of "Dancing with the Stars" on Good Morning America on Tuesday, Aug. 30. The dancing reality show will begin on Monday, Sept 12 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
