Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have repeatedly said in the last few weeks that the two of them are really close to agreeing on a deal for their mega money boxing match. The two have been locked in talks for a really long time but in the last few weeks no new major development has taken place.
McGregor is set to take some time off after the birth of his son but the UFC lightweight champion will be expected to defend his title soon or at least get back inside the octagon soon. UFC President Dana White initially wanted their fight to take place on September 16, but they lost that date to the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin fight.

White has now come out with a statement saying that he is not going to wait much longer. He set a time frame of this Sunday for McGregor to agree to his terms before he moves on to talk to team Mayweather. White also mentioned that if he cannot get McGregor to agree then he plans to move on from the fight completely.
"I plan on having this thing locked up by this Sunday and then moving on to Team Mayweather and start to negotiate with them. If we really do get it done in that timeframe, then this thing could possibly happen. Again, I still have to go negotiate with them. There's no guarantee that we're going to come to a deal," CBS Sports Radio quoted White as saying.
White admitted that not booking the fight on September 16, the date they had in mind, was their mistake. Despite such a short deadline for McGregor, White feels it's doable. However, he feels reaching an agreement with team Mayweather will be a different task altogether.
"I think the chances of a deal with McGregor are pretty good. Hopefully Monday I'm going to sit down and negotiate with Team Mayweather. I just can't keep messing with this thing. I have to run my business and I have to focus on all the other things that are going on around here," White said.
If McGregor does fight Mayweather sometime this year, UFC fans could still get to see the Irishman fight inside the octagon before the end of this year as according to the UFC president he wants to fight twice this year.
