Action comedy film "Dabangg 2", which stars Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, opened to a great start on Friday, but its business declined on the second day of its release.
Arbaaz Khan's directorial debut received mixed to negative reviews from film critics upon its release, but thanks to the Salman factor the movie is performing well at the domestic box offices.
Released across 3,500 screens in India, "Dabangg 2" raked in ₹21.10 crore on the opening day. With ₹21 crore, the movie has emerged as the biggest opener ever for a Friday release, pushing down Akshay Kumar's "Rowdy Rathore".
Taking note of the advance booking, the first day collection and number of screens, the movie was expected to fetch good earnings on its second day. But the collections witnessed a slight drop in India.
The movie approximately collected ₹18 crore on Saturday, taking the two-day total to ₹39.1 crore. The film has shattered the second day record of Salman's previous release "Ek Tha Tiger" in India.
"Ek Tha Tiger" was released on Aug 15 across 3300 screens in India and collected ₹32.92 crore on the first day and ₹14.55 crore on the second day.
Compared to the response down south, "Dabangg 2" is going very strong in north India.

The movie is the sequel to 2010 blockbuster "Dabangg." It also features Vinod Khanna, Arbaaz Khan, Prakash Raj, Deepak Dobriyal, Sandeepa Dhar and Nikitan Dheer in supporting roles
