Cyclone Hudhud has reached Jharkhand, after crossing Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, and is now lashing the state with heavy rainfall and strong winds.
On its way to eastern India, the cyclonic storm caused damage in several parts of Andhra and Odisha, and also disrupted the Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre. The centre consequently lost access to the radar which was keeping an eye on the cyclone for the past two days.
Unable to reach the radar through the centre, officials have resorted to contacting navy radars to seek information on the cyclone's movement.
"The navy informed us that the eye of the cyclone has crossed and that the wind speed is 185 kmph," IANS quoted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as saying.
Photographs and videos of the cyclone shows the damages it has wreaked on Andhra Pradesh and Odisha early on Sunday.
