Indian smartphone developer Micromax's upcoming Cyanogenmod Android OS powered smartphone is expected to be available from 18 December exclusively through Amazon India.
The Indian arm of US based e-retailer posted a tweet on their official twitter handle, mentioning the URL of an exclusively designed page with the YU Phone logo.
Micromax, the developer of YU series Android smartphone, has also designed a dedicated website for the same showing a countdown timer related to the availability. The PR team of Micromax has also started sending invites for a smartphone release. Though the exact model of the upcoming phone hasn't been mentioned, we believe it's for the YU smartphone.
Recently Micromax had signed an exclusive deal with Cyanogen for exclusive rights of CyanogenMod OS support and updates for the Indian customers. As a result, Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus won't be able to offer future OS updates to their One Smartphone customers in India.
Though there is no official announcement about the YU smartphone specification, we noticed some of the rumours around the web on it.
The Android based Smartphone is likely to feature a Qualcomm SnapDragon 615 SoC and will couple 2GB of RAM memory, reported Android Headlines.
It is also being said that YU smartphone's specifications will be similar to the Coolpad's F2 Android handset and willl feature a 5.5.-inch IPS display with 720x1260 pixels resolution, according to FoneArena. The rumour further suggests the YU device is set to be available in two versions.
While one will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, the other version will be powered by MediaTek's MT6592 Octa-core Soc running at 1.7GHz clock speed. Both the versions are likely to feature 2GB worth RAM and 16GB of in-built memory. The rumour further suggests the device is likely to feature a 13MP rear and a 5MP front camera and Android Kitkat 4.4 OS with a CyangenMod layer on the top of it. The YU smartphone is reportedly supposed to appear with a 2,500 mAh battery to meet the power requirement.
