The winter transfer window is in the horizon and the clubs are gearing up to flex their economic muscles. Rumours are adding up to the excitement as well. And of course, Cristiano Ronaldo's name will pop up during this period and his potential return to Manchester United in the next summer from Real Madrid.

According to Mirror.co.uk, Ronaldo's mother Dolores Aveiro wants his son to move back to Old Trafford if at all he decides to leave Santiago Bernabeu. Aleviro felt that Ronaldo and her grandson Cristiano Junior would be safe in Manchester than in Paris. She felt this because of the recent bombings in Paris.

Ronaldo did not rule out a move to Old Trafford next year as he also said that he would prefer United over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

According to reports in the transfer market, PSG are lining up to offer him a whopping Â£250,000-a-week salary and he will be an obvious successor to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Louis Van Gaal had told the reporters that the Red Devils are already exploring a possibility of bringing the Portuegese Superstar back to Carrington. Vice-chairman Ed Woodward is also looking into the situation.

Ronaldo was sold to Real Madrid in 2009 for a then-record-breaking fee of Â£80million. At this moment, if United are thinking of bringing back wing wizard, then they will have to shell out a lot of money.

But Ronaldo had brushed aside all kinds of rumours saying that he is happy at Madrid and wants to win more trophies with the club. Ronaldo's agent has also confirmed earlier that PSG and United have shown interest but there's no such development as of now. Ronaldo was nominated as one of the contenders of the FIFA Ballon D'OR on Monday alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.
