Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not only won hearts with his sports skills, but has also impressed everyone with his screen presence in commercials. According to the latest reports, the cricketer is now set to turn a producer for a Varun Dhawan film.
MS Dhoni has acquired the rights to make a movie based on legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand. Varun Dhawan is reportedly the prime contender to play the hockey genius in the biopic.
Deccan Chronicle reported: "Cricketer M.S. Dhoni has acquired the rights of the film and might produce it. It is still not clear whether Karan (Johar) will be co-producing the film, but Rohit (Vaid) is very much directing the film with Varun."
The former Indian captain has always had a thing for Bollywood. His biopic had won the hearts of cine-goers across India. Sushant Singh Rajput played the lead in MS Dhoni - The Untold Story. Dhoni's name was also linked with many Bollywood starlets prior to his marriage. He is also good friends with John Abraham.
Karan Johar announced the Dhyan Chand biopic last year with Varun in mind. However, Varun turned down the offer later. Now, the actor has reportedly agreed to come on board again.
The movie will be directed by Rohit Vaid and KJo might co-produce it. It was earlier reported that Karan and Varun were reluctant to work with Rohit as the duo were not happy with the script. But they couldn't cut him off the project as Rohit had the legal rights.
However, it seems Karan has taken a U-turn after Rohit's National Award win. It will be interesting to see how Dhoni's association with KJo and Varun pan out.
