The fifth and the final Test match between India and England in Chennai, which starts on Friday, will see the cricketers from both the teams wearing black arm bands in memory of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
Tamil Nadu came to a standstill after Jayalalithaa's death on December 5. As people mourned the death of the popular politician, a question mark was put on the fate of the match as well. However, it was later decided that the tournament would go on as scheduled. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has now requested players to wear black arm bands in the fifth Test as a mark of respect.
"We have requested both England and India teams to wear black armbands as a mark of respect for the departed soul of our former CM," Press Trust of India quoted a senior TNCA official as saying.
India have already won the series 3-0, but they will also hope to finish the series with a bang and make that 4-0. All the India players have been solid in their respective departments, helping the team come up with a superb all-round performance.
On the other hand, England will be keen to head back home for a tour break with a consolation win under their belt in Chennai.
