Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country's second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter recorded highest-ever domestic sales of 42,505 units in September 2015, up by 21.3%. The Korean manufactuer also exported 14,030 units of the vehicle that adds up to the cumulative sales of 56,535 units for the month of September.
Hyundai's recently launched Creta compact SUV seems to have powered the surge in sales. The new compact SUV became the top selling SUV with 7,437 units in August 2015, dethroning long time leader Mahindra Bolero. Hyundai also sold 6,783 units of Creta in July 2015. Variant-wise sales report is yet to come out but going by the trend it is safe to assume Creta retained top selling SUV achievement in September as well.
The overwhelming response to the SUV had prompted Hyundai to increase the production of the Creta to 7,000 units from the planned 5,000 units per month from August.
The new launches topped by the Creta helped the South Korean auto maker register 13.50% increase in total sales at 54,608 units in August 2015. The domestic sales of the company rose to 40,505 units in August from 33,750 units in August 2014, registering a growth of 20.01%. The September sales result pushes it further.
